Gisele Silva is a performing artist, instructor and choreographer hailing from São Paulo, Brazil. As a Brazilian native, Ms. Silva has forged her path in the United States and made a name for herself as a leader in the global tap dance community.
The dance captain of hit female tap dance sensations Chloe Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies, she has been gracing stages all over the U.S. Her work with Syncopated Ladies includes a national tour, and various performances including appearances at the Apollo Theater, Lincoln Center, Miller Theater, Essence Festival, BET Awards, CNN (New Year’s Eve) and more.
In addition to her work with Syncopated Ladies, Ms. Silva is a founding member of the acclaimed New York based tap company Music From The Sole. She has performed at many prestigious venues including the New York City Center, Guggenheim, Jacob’s Pillow, Vail Dance Festival and The Joyce Theater.
As a teaching artist, Gisele has taught for numerous tap festivals and conventions all over the
world. DC Tap Fest, Tap Fest Guadalajara, Tap in Rio, Colburn Summer Intensive, Hollywood Tap Fest to
mention a few.
She was a guest faculty on Turn it Up Dance Competition and Shake the Ground.
She also teaches for Chloe&Maud Foundation after school programs in her home base city of Los Angeles, CA.
Beyond tap dance, Gisele is an accomplished jazz and modern dancer. She is a member of the Afro-Brazilian Dance Company Viver Brasil, where she serves as both, performer and teaching artist. Due to her extensive work as a premier tap dancer, Gisele was selected as an ambassador for Brazilian based dance wear brand, So Dança.
Some of her commercial credits include Apple TV+ musical film, “Spirited” starring Will Ferrel, Ryan Reynolds and Octavia Spencer, Disney California Adventure Parade, DanceOn channel on YouTube, NBA Halftime, ScHoolboy Q and Travis Scott’s music video “CHopstix”, Brazilian Carnaval and Rock in Rio. She can also be seen in articles in the well-known Dance Magazine and Forbes Brasil.
In the 2023 holiday season, Gisele played a leading role of Clara for Dorrance Dance’s production,“The Nutcracker Suite” co-choreographed and conceptualized by tap dance phenom and MacArthur “Genius Grant” recipient, Michelle Dorrance. Performing in prestigious venues across the country, including The Kennedy Center, Charleston Gaillard Center and will continue to the world-renowned New York City Center followed by a California tour for this coming holiday season.
With the cast of The Nutcracker Ms. Silva was invite by the office of the First Lady of the United States to participate in the White House’s 2023 Holiday Campaign. The group had the unique opportunity to perform throughout the entire East Wing of White House. After First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, posted a video of the performance on her social media, the clip went viral, amassing over 1.6 million views and resulting in articles in the New York Times and Washington Post.
